goodbye roma

goodbye roma
i’ve had it with you
and might miss you
maybe after a while
cause you bother me
abuse and take me for granted
crowd me on your buses
push in front of me every time
i get in line
treat me with no regard
and when i’ve reached my limit
then you make fresh pasta
and tasty pizza
your wine’s good too
did i say i like your cheese?

Another lovely portrait of place. Mixed emotions are all a part of leaving, aren't they? Wonderful words.

julie, thanks. i rolled around in this one, got caught up in it. my own truth grabbed me here. i bet i changed this ten times after i posted it. now don't start trying to figure what changes i made. that isn't fair.

annie was getting on me for a previous submission that she saw i altered. i was looking for support to rib her a bit.

if i had the courage to work on longer length i would. my life has been spent pushing little word packages around, and it seems that here i will stay.

Hi Jack, I enjoyed that "ribbing," bringing TomC into it! Nothing wrong with changes- revision is the life of writing! I like this poem, too.

Annie,

thank you again.

talk of rewriting: what i wanted to achieve with this one was a defiant start, that turns weak at the end, all for the love of roma.
