into a new day unobstructed.
Loosen your scarf
unbutton your collar and relax.
there's nothing like
sailing over a light traffic, gentle road
with the object of doing well ahead
to get your chores done.
and tell me: is the day fun yet?
poetry - jack sender - all of my life
into a new day unobstructed.
Loosen your scarf
unbutton your collar and relax.
there's nothing like
sailing over a light traffic, gentle road
with the object of doing well ahead
to get your chores done.
and tell me: is the day fun yet?
today Thursday the 17 of march 2022
i checked the time ...
the sun set at nearly seven thirty pm,
hanging while slowly dropping,
Like looking into the face of a
powerful, red glowing cannonball.
that approximation hangs on the clocks.
how well they're set today.
i take responsibility.
such a lovely day and quiet.
only thing to hear is ringing in my ear
when i think about it. but i'm too busy
thinking to pay that kind of attention.
blanket tight wrapped my shoulder.
sure dark and cozy as i slept last night.
dreamed through silence.
a calm reliance in my heart.
to generate a new beginning,
starting over heading for a new spring.
snow will melt. no more dark sky.
this winter's over.
let school yard voices sing.
first day and there is
one interested in our home for sale.
we're going to the clockman
i called and
clockman is closed until Monday.
no driving that way today.
forget the meatless so-called
impossible burger
and fries, and adding to our ketchup stash.
grey, they say will snow anyway.
i had to keep reading that to see what i was talking a bout.
forget it.
just another day.
how much going on can happen?
not a ketchup's worth.
around the globe it is here
yet only beginning.
it will grow
and we'll all be better
two horses
in the small corral
stand in extreme opposite corners
though horses like company
these two must have been
together long enough
each knows what
the other has to say
twenty something degrees
and cold means comfortable.
while waiting in the car
sitting in the sun.
war is disturbing. a monster let out among us. we can hardly get away. a million people have tried. families, small children. mothers and fathers on the run.
where are the old buildings? 8 and pieces. favorite chairs and dishes. treasures passed down in families. could not carry it away.
in transit. who will plant the family garden this year? remember the neighbors so steady in the good times. love and kindness will remind us.
the fur on the deer
is durable like double pane glass,
giving protection to thirty below.
for a deer to chew a shrub is like finding
a breakfast of bacon, toast and eggs
over easy. deer have good imaginations.
sunny and warmer is the current
condition.
this could signify that extreme cold
and heavy snow has finished for this year.
i imagine most of us are in agreement
that the time is right.
we are so sorry
for you, and now for the world.
God protect the people of Ukraine
who must fight to stay home.
where it has appeared.
even though days slip away mirrored
and reflecting each other
rember this by what day it is.
and I'll say i'm labeling
before it slips beyond.
yeah, Thursday ...
a splash in the pond.
reflection
my birthday month usually runs by like zip.
this is a big deal to live in my month a bit.
i tell you so far it's been a nice trip.
let it rip. don't slip.
for some reason i haven't
been to the Big Apple for a zillion years
or twenty-five, before the towers fell
been a while ago.
i'll think of NYC and smile.
and don't remember well.
seems new things are coming in my head
faster than i can absorb.
bouncing around, ideas are.
warm weather, blue sky.
TIMES SQUARE for enjoying.
not toying. wrap that around ya, Sunshine.
cold between ... i could call this that.
the point is: it will be warmer.
we'll wait for tomorrow.
they say that's how long we have to wait.
we'll see how it goes.
today i'm reading
about injustices to native Americans.
though we certainly have traded
instances of misbehavior, we and they.
7 However:
it was their land until we showed up and0
forced a new order.
the entire earth has
gone this same way. it never changes.
notice how fast we're spinning.
i just had coffee, toast
with banana, almond butter
and jelly. Meri brought me the coffee
so I wouldn't spill it all over myself, the
computer, the carpet, the furniture
and our dog or cat if we had one.
either one, both.
anyone. watch yourself.
water dropped from the sky last night.
this morning we've more green grass than snow.
can use a break from winter inclemency.
February natural , where did you go?
same ol' winter talk.
rolled in thick snow weather.
looking out thinking
it's how winter memories are made.
ground's snow covered tonight.
turn on the outside light.
quiet while snowflakes flew.
dark earth is shaded, rolling blue.
we've a bite
of dear February going,
missing. chunked out. gone.
look at this month where you can see it.
a calendar does well for viewing.
now call this month half gone and it has
been a pleasure.
some snow,
nothing much else to note.
can't gloat, so feb is light for pleasure.
vacant even.
dormant catches it in good measure
idle. can't hear it ticking.
exhale easy, easy.
can weather be so on the verge
of changing from the throws of deep winter to a later, lighter breathe of spring.
Let us not kid ourselves.
The middle of February is not the
time for a weather turnaround.
You may think about it;
It then quit, get real.
you can wait this out for a while.
real change will arrive later.
what a strong time for beams
shooting straight to my wall
over fields and trees, across
yesterday's fallen snow, frozen
stiff, cold with nowhere to go.
beam on will ya. shine in.
afternoon sun we'll take you
a few hours. beam in lovely.
you're ours.
here is Sunday, above ... blue sky.
thick snow on the ground, three days old.
what more do you need?
how about a hug? less cold.
warm stones on a crackling fireplace
and a cozy rug.
that's why winter has a pretty blue sky;
to distract you.
if the tide needs rolling in
men know a woman would
help pull and finish the job
got dressed, did work on what i i'd written.
snow continued to fall all morning as hours passed.
white beauty through the window.
snow accumulates.
can we sleep with spring
melt changing to a blizzard?
well it's this afternoon.
three days they've been saying.
oh, yes it's Grandma's birthday.
i'm the last celebrating.
i'll ask my daughter the record keeper
which one i'm celebrating
that's enough to get us worried.
foot of rain then a foot of snow
how'd they get pictures
hasn't even happen ed yet.
old black and whites blurry
how they swung the camera a round.
titles, not names like bob and maria.
examples include: mailman
captain, that's a title for you.
be wary, what's hard to rhyme.
takes time. mr i mean.
where are we heading?
Into a week filled with snow.
let's take it easy this winter day.
imaagine warmth and the scent of
burning man pungent cedar wood.
light and quiet on an afternoon.
we can take a quiet day
