Reading in the sun

 when i glanced up from my book

two rabbits were ten feet in front of me.

next to them

two humming birds were at the feeder.

 

it took less then a second

for the rabbits and i to see each other.

both rabbits simultaneously split the instant we saw each other.

the birds drank at their usual pace.

 

i  need a bit more sun.

now i'm in the shade.

these are the moments we wait all winter for.

Three here

 sunny, warm and silent morn.

out the kitchen window 

two small deer in the yard

getting water from our dish;

heads suddenly turn

 their moother is here.

she leads them into the

woods and quickly away.
