a weekend pause

winter takes a break today.

while every, i mean everyone

tried to get into a used items sale at

Henry’s Barn, a very large building just out of town.

cars galore coming from everywhere.

we got in the slow moving line.

then cars were turning around.

the sign said no parking at all.

we backed up and drove out.

you can’t always get what you want.

we didn’t need anymore from the sale anyway.

 we were just going looking.

So then it began again

snow began to fall in the morning

around nine,  so call it a late start,

As but came down all day without stopping.

look at the beauty.

borderline melting five hours later when

i seriously started noticing  the still, wet snow.

not a big deal, but sounds like.

 a wonder to behold.

contesting

this one or that, we’ll see how it goes.

everyone’s working, everyone knows.

as it’s morning, a new day is calling.

no one is stalling. winter shows.

grey and dull white.

nothing shines bright.

weather seems setting up for later

when it could become greater.

bet on snowfall later in the day.

i’ve my boots on.

I’ll watch out.

Any birds in the feeder

I’ll give a shout.

Meri said she saw Little this morning.

Looks like she got married.  Has a partner.

wet snow day

 unusual snow melt day

what we’re dealing with.

some rain and above freezing.

the lawn is poking through the snow.

doesn’t happen all at once every day.

yesterday it looked like nearly a foot of snow.

now the sky and overall outside has a different patina.

the words i write come in variance from regular.

i am rocking against the shifting breeze.

Fri 27 jan 2023

We had snow again and it’s cold.

You know., for half a year there is no traffic going by.

I read of Lincoln and want to read more.

Read of Lindbergh and now have a

1929 large story of Franklin.

These men made a heavy print when they passed.

So near and so far away.

Just around the corner.

Jan is creeping along

Not all the snow has melted.

Nothing dripping especially.

 Not that I can tell.

The mail man hasn’t come by yet.

We’ve a few mail persons.

We never know who’s delivering.

meri knows one by name.

She’s been working in the garden when they come by.

i’ve been out there wondering Who is that cutting through our woods.

Half the snow is gone.that’s the report.

Monday again

 All covered with snow.

Everything is still.

Picking pieces and holding together.

Sure is the other side of the year, globe, pattern of things.

Four geese floating in a half iced over pond.

They can take cold weather just fine.

i can watch a few minutes from

inside the car with the heater on.

going on nine

not an animal out there. here is the story.

i’ve to sort pages, carefully make notes.

again looking out i see nothing moving.

quietness has a charm of its own, doesn’t it?

do you fill your head with future action?

impossibly easy the day begins

in my working days i showered and took off.

coffee happened when it finally appeared.

Keeping this Sunday

at five this morning Meri saw Little

out there during dark of winter.

although predicted to be cold

last night  again ran fine.

dreams and sleep comfort surround.

she read a couple inches of snow are on the way.

this year winter has been slow  to get here .

this house so tight holds us just right.

Off again

morning off to Cleveland.

looks like some rain’ll go along.

we’ll laugh, sing a song.

well that’s over the top, i know.

next i’ll have us dancing.

at least i’ve good intention.

enough to mention

we could be rolling good Melodies.

Paul for 007-working title

Play one for me. here goes again.

We’re going to see some classmates over pizza.

the old town and memories will flash by.

those pals who were in sight of the lake year round.

Remembering old steel cars and good times.

songs we know now weren’t even written then.

many favorites are half forgotten.

Clothes and smells were different.

We couldn’t imagine where we were headed.

Dancing at the hop.

We were fast moving kids.

The people and the challenges were different.

Look what happened since then.

Walking in as a train went by

Hugs all around.

Mid Jan last two days ago

tom Brady took it on the chin metaphorically.
season is wrapping.
like the rest of America we watched football.

44 degrees this morn going to 53.
again we're wondering about winter.
is something backward?
What are we missing?

Why would I worry?
Moving ahead as best moving produces.
Swirling about.
Leaving doubt.

All day rain

has not paused not a minute.
 at least it's comfortable looking
 out from the inside.
 keeping all day dry.

Quiet morning

not says it all. there could be more the white squirrel ran about. looked singular fluffly for sure. not a common sight. been a year since i've seen him. forget about it now.

Colding

as cool as we've had it. this is Sunday, the middle of January. two rabbits plus tracks from others. it's still and fifteen degrees Farenheidt. full, light blue sky this morning. plus artist's paintable, whispy clouds. frozen snow on the ground. the animals will be having cold meals of sticks and bushes.

Morning sun

don't know how that morning sun could weave through the woods to the hill we were on. our old cabin was 100 years old. in the Paiute Mountains; we lived at 6400 feet. comfortablly. Ponderosa and Jeffery pine. the soil is decomposed granite. with bear and deer. Meri remembers the soft whistle of the wind in the trees. i recall the cool, clean mountain water and our time on the mountain.

Riding the white

friday to Cleleland and during the night before it snowed a few inches. four or five. alot of white. i slept through it of course. they say more came down in nearby places. is this enough snow talk? one more ... there are rabbit tracks outside. i'm dressed and ready. now what to write? oh, yes, calander words. January 2023, no kidding. used to be the month before Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays until the big they - changed them. how about that? keeps us in line maybe. i have no idea.

Waiting rain or snow

i've reading and writing to do, then running to Cleveland. foul weather comes down tomorrow. guess it will squeeze in fine. traffic passing by today is zero. there, i mentioned what isn't. either reading or writing poetry you need your imagination.

Early to create

a quick hello amigos. and to the rest of you and we, see, quick as a bee. let us see how is it going? Calif is getting hit a second week by rain storms and flooding. it is rough out there. Ohio is quiet and dull. looking good. this is okay. you have to learn to live with what you have.

First week in January

sure we've started many months lots of times. recall the colors of the blocks and sky? i can bring to mind the excitement of newness; says a lot. walking blocks passing familiar faces. not writing notes will allow too much slip away. breath well, smile from the inside.

Sunday, January 08, 2023

Not bad

coming down. looks like could become harder rain.

will pound all day they say.

course they predict all sorts of misfortune.

we'll sit still, lightly suffer, and half grinn

in the extra time we'll have a look at a private art collection available for the first time.

new/old art in Cleveland. forty minutes away.

drove over to look. that went well.

we'll see. and we did. all is well.

 lunch was swell.

January sky

no snow, cold enough. Sunday today. we'll go to the service. see familiar faces, note how we've aged. say some good quiet words from our hearts. somberly i'll remember the lake, the bay and the woods. what we've achived, the forever goods. and give thanks.

Friday, January 06, 2023

had an apple.

what a did a, going to say. silence turns another way. while Washington is stuck in government. alas. i can worry, grunt and wonder. check it on TV; keep looking. a sandwhich, cider and some coffee. didn't write a few words. dark grey put to field. i've more reading. can i patch my efforts, make a better day by thinking boats and water. wonder what do you know, what do you say?

Thursday, January 05, 2023

Grey sky, talk about a grey sky

take a couple morning hours squeeze them in your heart. wash your face, brush your teeth, the day is at the start. oat meal is pleasant to begin today. take your time. baking bread again? i'm with you. what do you say?

Fog working

stiff as a board, one eye partially open lying dog cold slowly i'm waking. look at the white ground cover this morning thick as mushroom soup the land wearing a comfortable cloak. there is a tune here. melody me from your heart. quietly.

Name ( @ )

years ago in our little town we had indigenious people around
but to tepresent them in plays we used locals to sing and speak.
after all these native americans had to represent our thoughts. it was our show with our ideas.
we could write their words we can feel their stones.
we didn't surrender our space.

Thin air logic

i can't keep the thought i thought fresh in my head long enough to write it down, or so i reason. it is swirling.
is this reasonable? i need some answers before i evaporate.

Halfway out

halfway out of the month meaning we've watched the months pluck away one at a time until the end of the year is nearby. memories are few as home and reading is what i recall, with not friends enough, although, the rabbit and deer were here. it has been cold so today a good change; the cold has lessoned and today's temperature climbing into the forties seems special. i look forward to the relative warmth. and, yes, the sounds i hear are the clocks ticking.

Wednesday, December 14, 2022

Thirty-eight

cold enough last night i had to put on a second cover to keep warm. today it will be cool in the afternoon. now i have lost track of many concepts. the morning temperature is thirty-two. farendheit freezing is cold enough. i showered, i'm warm and comfortable. spending time in ohio has made me acclimated. i'm assimulated.
