The Today on to Mary’s Chinese restaurant in Trastevere .

Yes celebration we are. The time is.

Quit smoke and other stuff

 

Four or five years ago, or so, 

i quit; time moved on.

then later had a cigarette once more

it nearly knocked me to the floor .

i was dizzy and just about fell

So okay, enough for now.

These are poems and you know

how I feel.

 i hear it going,

Wrapping itself in confusion.

Treading carefully 

Looking left and right 

Over your shoulder 

And under the rug 

Keeps you busy 

Holds you snug.

While you note how to make it better next time.

Working out the days for joy and feasts

They say it’s as cold as it gets.

Not terribly but kinda.

We will bundle for the low fifties

And cross the river for Mary’s Chinese food.

Getting there first this time

Cause we know it works.

So here we come in vegetables.

Familiar faces

 

They crept out and surprised each other.

Been a while since we’ve exchanged grins.

Now Again around friends from long ago.

We knew the streets, knew the greetings.

And those from whom we felt the warmth.

Here we are after being apart so very long.

Sang the old songs, it has been so long.

We’ve made plans and promises 

To share time together again.

Holiday corner

 

Pack little sandwiches in preparation,

Together to celebrate happiness and do music.

These requirements will make us ready 

For the big festing holiday.

Families are remembered.

Learning slowly

 

The phenomenon of vocabulary covers like a blanket.

Eyes open as slowly words develop.

I make typing errors and despite this move on

advancing with difficulty, working to make sense.

We’ll begin conversation with strangers.

Saw Franco looking worn by the years.

Surprised him,  he smiled, happy to see me. 

Been a while, surely has.

and sure enough we woke now

this very morning with a full solid 

umbrella full rain thick all around goings on

without pause at all.

Preparedness for Monday

 

Shower Clean then breakfasted

Outdoors appears fine moderate this morn.

Traffic is moving; an example to follow.

Ring those Christmas bells while on the way.

Oldsters cane-walking out of the way.

Rode and slept

 

At montecarlo restaurant the guy didn know  me

If I saw him outside he’d be a stranger

The pizza was good, everything you’d want.

Ate and left

We were in the crowd, out of sorts

Tired from the day

Went back to our hotel and crashed.

It was quiet as we slept all night.

Collapsing moments prefacing

In anticipation of the tumble

Wrapping for a departure

How is the quality of the pizza ?

 

I ‘ll check carefully this time.

A good November

 

As expected , complete with the usual holiday 

We wrapped November.

As usual it went well. Thirty day’s worth.

As usual I strained the day banging against my 

intentions.

 Driveway walking went three times,

 cold and complete.  This is to set me and you up

To see the walk as the important event it is, don’t 

just blow it off as nothing. Walking keeps me

Thinking, thinking.

This morning the slow button is depressed.

Sure things went on

Another regular day from the time I awoke.

Drying out from previous day’s rain, light wind and sun,

Just to tell you how it went after it had begun.

A Saturday all for all to enjoy.

To get you straight I saw no one and nothing happened.

Maybe that’s why the day went so smoothly;

The day had no ripples in it.

Full rainy day

 

Woke to the tapping,

Rain drops smacking;

Coming down crystal clear

Nothing lacking this wet November day.

The final leaves will soak and fall,

Winter’s ready to make a call.

This season has done the job,

Wrap up with an apple Bob.

We won’t play that game,

Years have passed, it’s not the same.

We’ll remember and surrender 

To the grace of the years.

Fewer than usual is less regular.

Sun shines calm beginning this day.

Could have come up with more, then again

i prefer a clean look without imagining overboard.

Sliding out of bed

Crisping somewhat ahead.

Our efforts are attentive and cautious.

I remember the Woolybear.

That closed years ago, we’d have breakfast there.

Just to try it.  A spot alone in the country.

A bird just flew against the window.

A real whap; I hope it’s all right.

I jumped, saw it fly to the bush out front.

Now it’s here picking berries.

Gasing up for a flight south.

Every body’s working.

Have the way open with tickets and packing.

A good time to settle in, see friends again.

Check the familiar streets,

Ride the favorite buses to familiar places

We’ll test the pasta at Pasquali’s.

See old friend’s faces.

Checking new and proven places.

See museums and hear hard rain.

Ride a train,

Look around some.

It will be fun 

To be home again.
