Buttons Up and Dancing

walking around
i found myself
looking for buttons on the ground
that’s her thing
she’ll be here soon

on the bus, next to me stood three,
a guy in the middle of two women,
head back, pontificated endlessly
they should’ve left him on the bus
and followed me

walking to the corner, a rash of vivid electric
green grew between the cobblestones
made it harder to see the buttons
she’ll be here tomorrow, and find them
just wait, you’ll see

I hardly know where to comment, because I'm enjoying myself so much over here. You have much excellent work.

I love "Buttons Up and Dancing." That second stanza is right on in its music and structure. I also love the story that's going on (or at least the story as I perceive it). Isn't it wonderful how we bring our own life experiences to a read? I'm lost in a story of my own life in this poem.

Thanks for linking me. I've been meaning to ask you if I could link to you, then I went out of town for a bit. I'll get you up there tonight, so now I don't have to hunt to find your work. Beautiful poetry and I love your voice, too.
