in another life,
i’m pretty sure
i wasn’t king or queen
or dog or cat
i think i was a dandelion,
and we’d just grow
with nothing to know,
tens of thousands of us
turning our heads
to honor the light of the sun
we sang together
a lot of songs
never had words to learn
we’d just turn
to the sun and knew the music,
we were like one

There was a time when we were in fact just like that... at Saint Peter's Elementary. But then after leaving we changed and many of us turned into crab grass... maybe Sister Arcadia showed us how? I hope you still have many days in the Sun left... the 'newspaper and coffee out on the back patio early in the morning sun' kind of days that are almost upon us here in NorCal.
Sometimes it feels nice to be just one of many, enjoying the sun. I like the peacefulness of this poem, and the idea of just knowing the music.
TomC don't try and kid me. You never thought you were a dandelion. And Julie would never have married you if you rode around on your Harley and told anyone you thought you were a dandelion.
Annie, I liked that also, the part about just knowing the music for no special reason. It just happens. And I figured dandelions couldn’t sing the words anyhow, so why strain them to learn words. Hey, if I’m making this stuff up, I may as well make this stuff up.
