over the water run, a half mile back,
few birds fly while keeping alert for predators.
in the large oak tree all is calm on every branch.
what the birds make of the day
searching for food
guarding their area.
working out where to build a nest.
seems to be the spot. same as last year.
when spring begins they’ll be ready.
