Bad Poetry

Writing bad poetry is good conditioning.
You wonder if I feel bad when my poetry is lousy, no way.

If Tiger Woods put the ball in the hole every time he took a shot
they wouldn’t let him play any more.

Jack... this really encourages me to continue writing bad stories. Thank you!

Hi Jack,
I don't know if you read my "poem" labeled Bad Poem, and the ensuing discussion and the revision I posted in the comments. I agree with you. I admire poets who are willing to just "put it out there." I once spent an obsessive 35 hours on a poem, mostly changing a word or two, or the placement on the page, and changing it back again, noting how the changes affected the meaning or the rhythm. I only label a poem, "bad," if it's a first or early draft and it really shouldn't be published in the first place! Like Tom says, thank you for the encouragement.

Annie, I may remember the "bad Poem" if it was a while ago. I searched your blog for "bad poem", found nothing.

Tom, keep up the bad work.

Bad night all.
