gone are dark nights
when thieves
creep sneaky in
to steal the silverware
cause cheap metal,
they practically
give that junk away
at rummage sales
if grandma had
anything decent
she must have
taken it with her
i know before
it got trashed
we should have checked
in her mattress

I love the sound of the first stanza, and the tone of the whole poem. "When thieves creep sneaky in..." is a wonderful way to say it. I can see them doing it.
