sound without light

Sunday has begun

without the sun.

darkness underway,

nowhere  seen to play

Saturday, December 30, 2023

The year flips

Calmly beaming into tomorrow

Where it should go, you know.

Full picture showy bright

Hold four head up right

 We have you in sight.

Turn out the light

And sleep tight

Tears to pieces

Tear the corner pieces

please do

Say to me , I’ve got the shivers

Hold on tight.

Friday, December 29, 2023

Start us up again

See the end, feel it.
Did we get here so rapidly?
Months waiting then quick snap.

In fast, then on the way. It should never be so quick.
My heart is still arriving.
Please say okay. Find a little space.
The time can be right. Develop
Hold on tight.

Under sail

I’ll be back when the sunshine’s.

We’ll go to Angel Island.

It’s out of the wind.

Usually fine weather there.

Easy to sail to.

My old sloop can do it.

Christmas good greeting

Hi all. Enjoy the holidays.

See your friends and relatives

Saturn

It’s far. away

Sixth planet from the sun. And large.

95 times more massive than earth.

A lot to imagine.

145 moons rotate around Saturn.

Average radius 9.5 times than that of earth

Sunlight, at the speed of light, takes

eighty minutes to reach Saturn.

Eight and a third minutes to reach earth

Saturn is Ninety- three Million miles away from the sun.

Day right

The Christmas celebration happens this day.

Say affirmative.

Kinda, somewhat we’re putting it together.

The Today on to Mary’s Chinese restaurant in Trastevere .

Yes celebration we are. The time is.

Yes again. Togethers.

Lunch it up.

.

Saturday, December 23, 2023

dawn’s early wave

skipping out to see about.

unfolding  tallows of energy.

hurry  bunnies, see we’re back.

the pace of old has returned.

there they go …

skipping  past the windows

first thing in the morning.

easy does it.

a half smile of satisfaction for you.

s trip and back again.

work this ride into our system.

Quit smoke and other stuff

Four or five years ago, or so,

i quit; time moved on.

then later had a cigarette once more

it nearly knocked me to the floor .

i was dizzy and just about fell

So okay, enough for now.

These are poems and you know

how I feel.

and you know

i feel.

the traffic rolls on in jams …  just saying.

 i hear it going,

Wrapping itself in confusion.

Find a pause, Santa Claus

And a hug to warm things up.

Thursday, December 21, 2023

Make a list

Working out a list for Santa Claus

That’s what to do now

While keeping head above water or wind or snow

Figuring on which way to go.

Treading carefully

Looking left and right

Over your shoulder

And under the rug

Keeps you busy

Holds you snug.

While you note how to make it better next time.

Wednesday, December 20, 2023

Week and holidays

Working out the days for joy and feasts

All the best wishes to everyone.

Happy tunes, enjoy yourselves

Think of the gifts you didn’t give to friends

Bring out the special dishes.

Mealtime for all means celebration together

Candles at dusk

Hallelujah

Sunday, December 17, 2023

As it gets

They say it’s as cold as it gets.

Not terribly but kinda.

We will bundle for the low fifties

And cross the river for Mary’s Chinese food.

Getting there first this time

Cause we know it works.

So here we come in vegetables.

Saturday, December 16, 2023

Familiar faces

They crept out and surprised each other.

Been a while since we’ve exchanged grins.

Now Again around friends from long ago.

We knew the streets, knew the greetings.

And those from whom we felt the warmth.

Here we are after being apart so very long.

Sang the old songs, it has been so long.

We’ve made plans and promises

To share time together again.

Thursday, December 14, 2023

Holiday corner

Pack little sandwiches in preparation,

Together to celebrate happiness and do music.

These requirements will make us ready

For the big festing holiday.

The lord is born.

Wrapped Presents given.

Families are remembered.

Solom songs are sung,

Hallelujah.

Wednesday, December 13, 2023

Curled water rolling in

Could have been more to see.

We took in a ton, on, on and on.

We’re on our way to see the town.

Light jacket weather right by the sea.

Tuesday, December 12, 2023

no rain to Angelo's

 This is exceptional.

Why it’s worth mentioning.

 a no rain day. Comfortable.

No need to ask for more, Lucky.

let us travel to get there.

are you ready as can be?

Monday, December 11, 2023

New day

a brand new day and we’re ready to take it.

one after another they repeat in packages.

Labeled to sparkle bright.

Shine your best, Ranger.

Saturday, December 09, 2023

Learning slowly

The phenomenon of vocabulary covers like a blanket.

Eyes open as slowly words develop.

I make typing errors and despite this move on

advancing with difficulty, working to make sense.

We’ll begin conversation with strangers.

Keep it up. Fragments will come together

Thursday, December 07, 2023

Cool but okay

Thursday today, traffic is moving,!!

Floating along at a fine pace.

Label it a Moderate and call it passing briskly.

Seems a good day

Not too cool.

Here at Angelo’s no one too much is nearby at this hour.

Saw Franco looking worn by the years.

Surprised him,  he smiled, happy to see me.

Been a while, surely has.

Tuesday, December 05, 2023

they said iT’d be

i’d be a rainy day they said

and sure enough we woke now

this very morning with a full solid

umbrella full rain thick all around goings on

without pause at all.

so how’s about all this?

Monday, December 04, 2023

Preparedness for Monday

Shower Clean then breakfasted

Outdoors appears fine moderate this morn.

Traffic is moving; an example to follow.

Ring those Christmas bells while on the way.

Oldsters cane-walking out of the way.

Sunday, December 03, 2023

Rode and slept

At montecarlo restaurant the guy didn know  me

If I saw him outside he’d be a stranger

The pizza was good, everything you’d want.

Ate and left

We were in the crowd, out of sorts

Tired from the day

Went back to our hotel and crashed.

It was quiet as we slept all night.

Thursday, November 30, 2023

Collapsing moments prefacing

we’ve steadied a warble

In anticipation of the tumble

Wrapping for a departure

i think we can make it.

i'll have some chocolate.

Tuesday, November 28, 2023

How is the quality of the pizza ?

I ‘ll check carefully this time.

Stepping back to observe in good attention

Those small side street places

And Remos in testachio - the top of the loop.

If I’m checking I don’t want to do half a job.

Ah, Sapri and the god one there,

We’ll it’s like besance France,

I can’t get around to all of them.

And the others, oh yes, more.

Monday, November 27, 2023

day is

Perky maybe, depends eh?

Street guys came by sucking up leaves.

one more try. take ‘em out.

nary a shout, these are quiet guys.

city workers

have to be wary to see ‘em passing.

a cop went by.

he was silent too.

Saturday, November 25, 2023

A good November

As expected , complete with the usual holiday

We wrapped November.

As usual it went well. Thirty day’s worth.

As usual I strained the day banging against my

intentions.

 Driveway walking went three times,

cold and complete.  This is to set me and you up

To see the walk as the important event it is, don’t

just blow it off as nothing. Walking keeps me

Thinking, thinking.

Ten till five and darkening.   Good November to you.

Wednesday, November 22, 2023

Moisture

How much coming down?

I told her we can take it.

We’ll dodge and trod

Into the mist. We’ll make it.

Tuesday, November 21, 2023

Wet all over

Holding on to last night’s rain

This morning the slow button is depressed.

I’ll keep you warm and dry my darling

Wrapping you comfortably caressed.

Monday, November 20, 2023

Here is a dandy

 Only bet

What you can

Afford to lose.

This is a public service announcement

Someone should have received a bonus

For writing that one.

Personally, on the matter,

i don’t want to throw away any money.

Sunday, November 19, 2023

Getting used to cool

Not quite gloves yet,

Coming up, you bet.

My hats ready, all set,

Heading in, no fret

Saturday, November 18, 2023

Creeped by

Sure things went on

Another regular day from the time I awoke.

Drying out from previous day’s rain, light wind and sun,

Just to tell you how it went after it had begun.

A Saturday all for all to enjoy.

To get you straight I saw no one and nothing happened.

Maybe that’s why the day went so smoothly;

The day had no ripples in it.

Friday, November 17, 2023

Full rainy day

Woke to the tapping,

Rain drops smacking;

Coming down crystal clear

Nothing lacking this wet November day.

The final leaves will soak and fall,

Winter’s ready to make a call.

This season has done the job,

Wrap up with an apple Bob.

We won’t play that game,

Years have passed, it’s not the same.

We’ll remember and surrender

To the grace of the years.

Thursday, November 16, 2023

quiet hollow

Fewer than usual is less regular.

Sun shines calm beginning this day.

Could have come up with more, then again

i prefer a clean look without imagining overboard.

Wednesday, November 15, 2023

Easy does it

Sliding out of bed

Crisping somewhat ahead.

Thin blue overhead.

Red leaves turning orange.

Low dawn cracks slipping in.

Let’s you know day begins.

Tuesday, November 14, 2023

Gas out now

Our efforts are attentive and cautious.

An eye out for what’s next.

A crossroad is ahead.

I remember the Woolybear.

That closed years ago, we’d have breakfast there.

Just to try it.  A spot alone in the country.

A bird just flew against the window.

A real whap; I hope it’s all right.

I jumped, saw it fly to the bush out front.

Now it’s here picking berries.

Gasing up for a flight south.

Every body’s working.

Monday, November 13, 2023

another time

Have the way open with tickets and packing.

A good time to settle in, see friends again.

Check the familiar streets,

Ride the favorite buses to familiar places

We’ll test the pasta at Pasquali’s.

See old friend’s faces.

Checking new and proven places.

See museums and hear hard rain.

Ride a train,

Look around some.

It will be fun

To be home again.

Saturday, November 11, 2023

Getting together

Sorted clothes for the trip, sort of.

Meaning, I have selected what I’m wearing.

Much supposedly complete and comfortable.

Washed, folded and packed.

Not lacking.

To the sky stacking.

Friday, November 10, 2023

Disguise the limit

Coming up the back trail,

Straight along directly into town.

As clouds gather.

It will be an average rainy day.

Rolling grey balls

Today clothes get put together,

We’re coming to go time.

A few cars, no walkers this a.m.

I saw three cars already, two or three.

Thursday, November 09, 2023

Indescribable

The color is new outside.

Light with a breeze.

A fresh adaptation from the old.

A different variation.

Curious how how all has changed

To something unseen before.

The trees. Bushes even the lawn

Have mellowed into color not previously exposed.

Wednesday, November 08, 2023

A week away or so

I’d say we’re coming on it.

The big trip that’s been delayed

so long, now can you see

It’s here on us, oh yes.

Packed and prepared or so,

It seems we can say we’re set.

To see our friends

On our familiar lanes.

We’re going home again.

Back to our dear friends,

Chalk up our old sights,

Back to our memories.

Tuesday, November 07, 2023

Shiny bright

The golden day opens

We’ve a new amount of morning leaves.

Hip deep and golden

Shaken out in dampness

They have continued dropping

There is no stopping until the end

That is winter.

We’re beginning

To get there.

The season end is where the next will begin;

Get ready.

Monday, November 06, 2023

Very light blue

Bright around the edges

Trees are thinning out

The sound is leaves falling.

No one outside walking.

I say that and a car speeds by

Followed by a dark patrol car.

Couldn’t see how it ended.

If the cop stopped that car word would

get around the coffee lounges.

Sunday, November 05, 2023

Fog sunday

Got it thick here

Took two hours to rid of it.

Fall day cool is it

Football or opera?

Saturday, November 04, 2023

Late fall

Appears fallen and blown,

Mostly spread in order.

Now all is drying out again.

We’re between rains for a while

Friday, November 03, 2023

Separation

The world is in a rough phase.

You can’t close your eyes to conflict.

Families are being divided,

We need clean water to drink and to wash.

Countries are engaged in war.

Hatred is why prayers began.

Peace is what we need.

Thursday, November 02, 2023

Gone down

Gone way down some.

Over freezin’ , but still runnin’ close.

Not much temperature left to whale about.

Just noticed nothing outside.

Not this morning.

november’s a shockin’ start for all.

Wednesday, November 01, 2023

Fitting it in

I saw those stars when I was a kid.

The house has changed

The angle the same.

The month and morning time could be near right.

Has the star alignment reregulated?

Is anything that I’m looking at the same?

What’s in order up there?

This is the sky seventy years ago I’m comparing to.

The house is gone

The direction the same.

My sky, me looking.

A star or two.

Tuesday, October 31, 2023

It will be a cold night in Buffalo.

Not like it will be in a few months,

you know how it gets.

Will be.

Oh it will.

This is baby cool before the end of the year.

I had the tv on and I heard some words about cool weather.

We’re in that part of fall weather

When it finally gets cool,

We had some wind

And about half the leaves have fallen.

A lot of color is everywhere.

Sunday, October 29, 2023

Some water iaround

Got my curl of wet attention.

No more than could be handled.

 droplets coming down currently.

Wait, it’s sleeting.

Coming down.

Fill all the little ponds.

ducks,  heads up!.

Friday, October 27, 2023

Give them bread and circuses

A salute good morning

The rim of sky cloud is screaming bright.

How do you do?

Starting to think of Rome seriously.

Thursday, October 26, 2023

Paste a post

Run hard

Ahead

Mark the spot

Where ‘s been said.

Across the yard

Use Your head

Pattern’s marred

Try this instead.

Tub of lard.

Paint it red.

.

Wednesday, October 25, 2023

Some speed on

Saw a black truck zipping by

while here leaves sleep in peace.

not a knock on nothing to report.

Solid grey sky forever today.

Monday, October 23, 2023

Winding out of October

Practically a surprise when it gets here.

The end of October

Leaves changing

Branch’s stiffening.

A week to Halloween.

Apples nearly ready

Why they call it fall.

Shall I pour some cider for you?

Saturday, October 21, 2023

Bunnies be gone

It is a pause in our relationship.

Bad guys slipped in, our loved ones left.

The way the whole picture goes

If you stand back far enough to look at it.

We knew this yet never wished it.

Always looking ahead ; we expect a new season.

Right now all around it’s quiet on the lawn.

Then flash … one is back.

Friday, October 20, 2023

Motionless

Waiting stiff this day

Now outside add wee bush movement.

Organizing events to undergo

Planning is wise and necessary.

Line all up.

Quietly we set forth.

A grey sky October leads us slowly.

We are on our way.

Thursday, October 19, 2023

Story apple company

Beyond green they’re gaining color.

We’ve picked only a few to get started,

Let’s see how these do.

There’s time for more.

As hours pass others will be turning.

There will be color in the field.

Wednesday, October 18, 2023

middle week day

got stacked like days when pancake

packed in syrup came smoking with goodness.

Shelby where we called waitresses by name.

At Ted And Allie’s meri parked by the door.

A couple times a week meri drove thirty minutes there and back.

Never thought bad about the distance.

We went out for breakfast.

That’s how we did it.

golden breakfast when we call.

Monday, October 16, 2023

checking

had to review a section,

that point where start is.

see how much we can renew.

seems the neighborhood is unplugged this day.

few and not moving to report i say.

this is the temperament.

in stillness we sit.

so here’s our way..

Sunday, October 15, 2023

Nick Chubb is out for the year

so sorry our good-hearted running back

is out for the entire season.

i am sorry the fellow got hurt on the opening play of the year.

now we are sitting quietly without spirit.

our team has dropped several notches.

meanwhile my tooth has been extracted six days ago.

coffee is my fortune.

serve me up …. well, il’ll get it.

nick you were our spirit.

somehow we’ll rebuild with you.

with you, the greatest part of our spirit.

Saturday, October 14, 2023

Fireplace

Good morning for the warmth

and the reflecting golden glow.

It rained throughout the night.

The tapping drops came steadily.

a skruffy large cat appeared in the front yard.

I walked out around the house checking he was gone.

Don’t want cats around.

All is quiet again.

Friday, October 13, 2023

Dry be the way

Day beginning fashionably

One car, one squirrel.

Gray clouds and a dash of blue beyond.

Windless morning is here.

I slept long in dream comfort.

Silence the order.

And holding calm after nine.

It is Friday; plans are light.

I am reading of old Rome.

A month long stay there is approaching.

Thank the great spirit this time has come.

Gratitude be given.

Thursday, October 12, 2023

Dark but dry it seems

No wind at all.

 Or apparition movement.

Crawling through mid-October.

 Carrying no hurry.

No heavy soaked colored leaves have fallen.

Days will dry and all will blow

Later, sometime later

When the season is ripe

Monday, October 09, 2023

Orbital debris

Spinning above

Something to notice.

Hooked on an idea.

Worry what will occur.

Optical energy

Keeping in balance.

Out of sync somewhat.

Call out a number.

Is it necessary to take action?

Has enough been completed

Let’s see what’s next.

Could remain steady for centuries to come.

Sunday, October 08, 2023

Bright on the morn

Frosty window glass along the bottom

October is open

Yet the leaves are still green

And whipping in the wind.

I think it must be cool out.

No walkers this morning.

The sunshine is inviting where seldom is

heard a discouraging word and the sky is not cloudy all day.

Saturday, October 07, 2023

note:

,Marja, i am working to publish your comment.

nothing is easy.

With no title

Sliding on the lane

Completely out of line.

Poland, Italy, the Mediterranean Sea.

A breeze blowing and sun peering through the clouds.

On the cool side but okay.

Marginally fit to be

Right for now, it’s fall you see.

Some for you, some for me.

Friday, October 06, 2023

Light flashing through light clouds

Bolted head scrapes seen on packaging

Behind the counters others wait.

Tie your seams

Keep them handy.

Bouncy for sure it seems.

Lasted many seasons .

Wrapping edges on the habitual .

On and on it sings.

Wednesday, October 04, 2023

Pectin is in

Found it on the shelf

Way hidden in back.

Now she has it in.

Surely it will be jelly

It will gel.

And it did.

All is swell

Nothing hidden

Tuesday, October 03, 2023

Twirling rangers

Obscure debris shower blindly

Fill the skies overhead.

Pepper us without mercy.

We regret our acts that caused this to happen.

We promise to do better

In order to be spared the penalties.

Whatever it takes

We will do .

Red berries dry hard on the bushes

Birds will return and eat them.

All will be gone before snow falls.

They will fly south for the winter

Monday, October 02, 2023

In and out

Cars are running by, in and out.

Two I saw. Right away

Could have been a crowd of them,

Although I didn’t see more.

Can relax and figure the day.

Went to dr. Newman

She pulled four staples out of my head.

Four women in the office when she pulled.

Never imagined a happy crowd of women

During the procedure.

There you go,

You never know what’s next.

Wednesday, September 27, 2023

Jack fell over the candle stick

It was in the way, must have been.

Three firemen and two paramedics were in our kitchen.

Nine at night or so

I was on the floor.

Meri didn’t have to make anyone coffee.

Today is Wednesday September 27.

A nice sounding date.

Doesn’t happen everyday.

So I’m home and repairing.

Think I lost four days of what I wrote

Google is 25 years old

What a time we live in.

Skipping around what is writing

Okay we cover ground

It’s n the space of 78 years

No need to crowd.

I wacked my head four stitches worth.

And advise against it.

Tuesday, September 26, 2023

February be wary

 the shortest month goes quickly.

a fast duck ... flying briskly.

yet February takes half of forever to get here.

happy birthday me-o ... that's a day,

then i'm looking back on it.

for a long, long while-o.

This what - regular

One regular reader of my material

Has moved from one country to another.

This is a recent change

I happened to notice today.

What I see of audience is minimal.

It is hard to say

Where I am is on the other side.

Knocking out this what.

This what is what I write.

Now I should see who reads what I write.

I should see you having your coffee

What else should I see?

Don’t worry, I constantly leave you alone.

I think about what to write,

Which corner to turn.

How to get where I’m going each day

And then how and when

Will I tie it off for the day.

Explaining is hard, I’d rather be thinking

about what and how I ‘m going to write.

Now that you dear reader have been mentioned

Hello hello.   Now that I think of you

I’ll review what I’ve been writing

To see who my audience is.

Wednesday, September 20, 2023

Keen to go

Lunch out today with the old mates.

We keep it up since a while ago.

Rearranged our group a few times,

But never dropped our calling.

Figured on lunch

No driving at night now.

Making getting together habbit

As easy and accommodating as we can.

When we need help

Someone steps forward.

We’ve Leslie and Tim

And more jumping in.

Didn’t have any idea when this began.

Thanks all of you.

Call us Us, because this is

Who we have been.

Following the steps

Of indigenous beginners.

On we go proudly.

Willingly together.

Tuesday, September 19, 2023

The sky is blue early

Why I can’t tell you.

Usually we wait until afternoon.

Now we wake to soft light.

A quiet change.

I saw two walkers,

One with a dog

The other our neighbor.

Gee gee is always solo.

Say do you think the

Second G is capitalized in her name,

I suppose it would be.

Just for appearance.

Monday, September 18, 2023

Day ready

First after getting up

Checking outside

Getting dressed

Being half warm and ready for today.

I see leaves disturbed on the bushes

Sprinkles hit them

They wiggle.

Shaking on the vine.

Few vehicles

Two or three

Was going to say two

Then another passed

The quiet side of starting

I’ll pack myself into a bundle

Walk the drive during a rain pause

I like wearing a hat.

Sunday, September 17, 2023

 Sixty minutes overtime.com

Days are turning

The morning is not the same.

Fall is coming up.

Leaves are yet to color

We’ve all the change to see.

It is in the air.

Something we can feel.

Don’t know why

Every year is different.

This you can feel

from the heart.

Autumn is golden

Soon it will start.

Saturday, September 16, 2023

We need some bus lines

Getting to different parts of the city.

Want to be mobile.

No parking problem.

See it all.

Take a ride to your favorite ice cream.

Get the monthly passes.

Out of town spots?

Search and find.

Thursday, September 14, 2023

Taking care

Up then around watching out for what’s about.

Where is the best - where to go?

Keep the pavement level ahead.

Easy does it. Steady now.

Wispy white like powder .

All the rest is said.

Iron whistle louder

Keep it in your head.

Wednesday, September 13, 2023

Rain and cool

Sprinkles, only a few.

The surprise of morning rain is welcome.

It feels like September, the way it should.

No breeze. All is still.

What we have is quiet again.

We had Little our rabbit out there.

Rain again more forceful.

Leaves are ringing.

Few  cars, no walkers.

Have my book out,

Day is stretching

Keeping in balance.

Sky is dim, full of clouds.

A break from heavy sun.

Think of coffee and

How about cheesecake. A statement not a question.

Tuesday, September 12, 2023

Easy in, out forever

He looked fine in the interview before the game.

Four quick snaps later

The season is now over.

It always is quick when looking back.

AskWyatt Earp and the rest of us.

Yeah we’re included in the pack.

At least we have blue water

to remember, oh yes we surely do.

Monday, September 11, 2023

Football season again

The announcer said

The ball was slightly overthrown.

In another view the receiver

Didn’t quite run far enough.

The games have begun

And I ran out of steam

After one game.

Wait and see what happens

Sunday, September 10, 2023

Turn up

Yesterday afternoon they both turned up.

The Two rabbits previously missing

Turned themselves in.

What a surprise.

Saturday, September 09, 2023

Split

The time has come

New-Little and Big Little have gone.

They both have run well.

We will always remember them.

Invisible runners

Not out this morning

At day ebb I said

Notes just read

Climb from thy bed.

Bunnies where are ya ?

Your color blends so well

You’re probably right on top

Still we miss tour hop

Can’t see you easily

As population is measily

And lost in the colors

Blended by dream.

Money and power are not the correct reasons to be in politics.  Service to country and seeking right are better attributes to obtain.

Day do you have?

Open sky for seeing

Where we’re being.

Dry your eyes,

Clear blue skys.

how hit’ll do

Bought a second hand coffee cup

Waited util it was washed.

The up is larger than what I had previously used,

But t used it this morning and liked it.

Give it a week or two,

Or a month and I’ll see

How it will do.

Right now I like the change.

When a cup is different it’s personal

It is a much larger  cup for me.

Give it a week or two or a month

We’ll see what happens.

Third of October

Days slip right on away.

While soaring upward goes the temperature

To a final high before the fall.

Let’s try autumn this way

Dream float boat

First thing Little and New Little are out

Rushing, eating, close to the window

In the sun, where we watch,

Coffee some and talk about them.

 Before nine they’re off.

I can settle into the new day’s charms.

Spirit away on wings of slight.

Work out the day until the night.

Another dry day supposed to turn warm.

We’ll take it and give what we can.

Endevour throughout the hours

Settle well with our powers.

Thursday, August 31, 2023

Daily worn

Cool to start today,

Summer fell away.

Blue background under clouds.

Irregular beginning on the midday of the week.

Sleepy all around

During a slow beginning.

Of yogurt, cereal

And coffee.

Wednesday, August 30, 2023

Two whities

First thing they are here

Together these friends

Crowding and quiet,

Calm this morning.

Good day to uss all.

Turning to fall

Autumn’s the outcome.

Early and rested.

This day we all sat.

Hello big duo

Hope we all slept well.

No surprise to see you.

Tuesday, August 29, 2023

Working plans to modify

Have to talk with builders.

Seems small jobs put together.

Then you need to purchase materials.

Costs come out of the closets.

The operations  begin to develop unexpectedly.

Maybe it’s better to think of results,

And expect a long road getting there.

Sit and have a coffee while you wait.

Monday, August 28, 2023

Sunny is the day and the way I feel

Little sat at the start of the day.

By my window. Ready to play.

Blue sky wide and light,

What a first class deal.

Sunday, August 27, 2023

Walking and looking calm as can be

How easily we look around

Taking in morning light steadily

As the days tighten up on August

we begin to think what’s next.

Sunday costume, pants are clean.

Toast and coffee, strong and lean.

Everybody’s in between.

Praise to the day.

We’ll take the sunshine

Find the best parts.

Honestly your heart is mine

where true love starts.

Turning seasons

Finally on the ebb

Switching colors at last

The reason is the season

goin’ at last.

Friday, August 25, 2023

Missed, but I heard

A lot a thunder again last night

While I slept and missed it all.

I had hard dreams going on non stop.

Slip-sliding in and out of Storyland.

I’m

Thursday, August 24, 2023

Day after the night

More storm than we ever had.

Power went out at nine.

The bad weather hadn’t begun.

Distant Thunder rang all night.

Non-stop rumbles continued.

Couldn’t feel the direction.

The thumps were out there.

Sleep went through regardless.

By the dawn the rain had ended,

Rumbles continued.

There was no end to the storm,

Only a lessening on the distant booms.

Wednesday, August 23, 2023

Trump is

a bully and a coward.

And people will vote for him.

How much downpour can you take?

Not wisp of cloud yet heavy storms are on the way.

Here they are coming, piling in, grouping up.

Bringing dumping loads of water upon us.

Here heavy measurable will fall.

Bumping into each others

A clobbering of down-pouring.

Duck alert china ride

Ka-bunga.

Blam dumps the drops.

POW-pow into drips and a fine mist.

Downfall, umbrellas out.

A pack of rain. No lie. No doubt.

Tuesday, August 22, 2023

New game around

Football season has begun,

Baseball is on the run.

Had to record Antique Roadshow,

Saw a quarter and went to bed.

Nighttime viewing gets too late.

A Sunday afternoon is enough for me.

They pay players millions

And want me to anti-up?

Could be a tough season.

Baseball gets blown away

Football is just a preview.

And I’m backing down.

Monday, August 21, 2023

New again

Rabbits have five litters per year

And more newbies are seen

Identify these around this morning

Little and NewLittle were seen yesterday

This morn smaller unidentifides are out.

No one else, no birds etcetera.

Monday starting in no rain.

No cars, no walkers

You know how it goes.

The same.

Bunnies sit still in a pose, then are gone in a blink.

Off eating or napping.

Sunday, August 20, 2023

mates

Didn’t get the count;

Different numbers came up.

Thirty or so of us got together,

sat and talked.

Wayne didn’t show.

The town is gone although

the framework remains the same.

Darrel and Leslie were there.

Out in the field

Beyond the rows of corn

We we saw the red giant ball of sun go down.

Such a warm, beautiful evening.

Saturday, August 19, 2023

More than a week

To go in August a warm season

Pleasant ahead for sure.

Tajour soup like my dentist.

Tag it to the list of goodness ahead.

One creature in the entire woods.

Not a chip, a bird or squirrel

Only Little our favorite rabbit

Hanging around out of habit.

Say hey so here we are you’re

On the car, not too far away again.

Thump, thump the rabbit’s hopping.

Nothing stopping us today.

Friday, August 18, 2023

castles in the air

Carefully the fresh coffee is distributed into cups.

There are no cakes plural.

One flat cake has been cut into many pieces.

i don’t need it but i’m eating it anyway.

The second half of August

some final warm summer days coming up.

We’ll take them then move into fall.

You know that’s all.

Large nimbus clouds and fallaway patches in blue.

What can you do?

Turn around season comes through.

What can you do?

Wednesday, August 16, 2023

Times wasting

Spinning wheels would be something to watch;

Otherwise other things get in the way.

Sent Auguri to Alex, Marina and Ermano an Chiara.

To my friends for Italy’s summer holiday.

This is a big one

like a birthday in importance.

Now I have to

Send a note to Giacomo.

Tuesday, August 15, 2023

Tween land

The heat escaped,

Slid out the weather door.

was fine while it lasted;

Don’t look for more

Now look for yellow,

A relinquish of the green.

As the temperatures mellow

And color changes the scene.

Are ya autumn on the way?

Dry as a cactus,

Colors come out some day,

Only need some practice.

Monday, August 14, 2023

On the button

Touches eight when I’m ready.

Brings Monday morning in steady.

Start us off in the new week

Warms the heart to hear floors creak.

Easy Jasper, reset the gong

No time limit for our song.

Play on in the harness of light.

Then dance, dance til you’re out of sight.

Sunday, August 13, 2023

Swirling path catches up

We have the way marked for clarity.

Bright sun beams light the path.

No walkers or vehicles,

one rabbit we call Little was here a while.

A motorcycle rumbled past.

The cliche cartoon sound of a large bike.

New Little sat out front

on the edge of the street.

hey, we want our bunnies to behave like people.

Okay, there I said it.

I’ll make flash cards and

start reading lessons next week.

Saturday, August 12, 2023

Couldn’t escape the storm

Seven seconds away from the flash.

The booms could knock ya.

I know the bunnies were out there.

They couldn’t have slept well.

I hope they hid near the house.

Dry places can be found.

Eat and sleep,

That’s life in August.

 Big  little came in first.

Then new little showed.

Nine thirty

All is well

Friday, August 11, 2023

phena

With twenty years in Hawaii

Extended Family and community

Thrown out by flash fire

No contact by wire

Dashed away. Thousands unacounted.

Speak to us, you can.

Present the story

To us far away.

We will hear you, Phena.

What do you feel?

Your voice is real

How are the people? What do you say?

Thursday, August 10, 2023

Maui crisps

Homes, families moved out of place

As firestorms cross Maui

Making life difficult for all.

Major loss and disruption.

So hard the climate changes.

New developments occur on the globe.

Keep what we can stable, simple.

Cooperation can aid all.

More than we expect developes.

Keep neat and practice caution.

Help where you can.

Be prepared at all times.

Wednesday, August 09, 2023

Plane misbehavior

Hand cuffed for throwing things in the cabin.

I prefer not to be a passenger on that flight.

My days go easier, thank you.

I’ll have quiet coffee and a brioche.

That’s my seat, my ticket says.

I’ll sit there, thank you, and read.

Tuesday, August 08, 2023

Maybe planktown , Ted and ali

Getting ready.  Nearly set.

Was a while last time I bet.

Familiar faces over pancakes.

An hour from here about what it took.

Things were lining up again.

Filing days like I don’t know when.

The owner lady remembered us

The place was loud until one table left.

Next to us they were talking loud.

Hey, we made it.

More than ten years we’ve breakfasted there.

If we’re lucky we’ll do it again.

Monday, August 07, 2023

Woke up cloudy looking for deer

A car or two snapped by

Wasn’t sure, they went so fast.

Thought of counting and they were gone.

Just a blurs, didn’t take long.

Of deer there was no sign.

Nothing to see this time.

Why am I expecting any at all

Leaves are thick amid trees so tall.

Saturday, August 05, 2023

Beyond the big heat

Now we adapt without fear.

White sky in clouds

Driveway is curing.

No one out after eight.

Clean and neat,

This day is slow,

A real treat

There’s nowhere to go.

Take some time,

Walking slowly,

Keep in line,

Holy moly

Friday, August 04, 2023

Drink your tea

Slowly, reverently.

Wait for the world.

It will get here.

recoating asphalt

Two guys were putting more hot shiny

Black oil on the drive.

She watched out the windows,

“I want to do that,” She said.

I stayed away, didn’t even want to smell it.

I worried the bunnies would get it on their feet.

Keep away everyone.  It’s hopeless black gook.

You’re cooked if you’re near it.

This is a clean new driveway.

I’ll look at it, but I sure don’t want to smell it.

Makes me think about

Giving up coffee.

9:10

She’s out there with a chair.

The mailman doesn’t come for another hour,

But we have a good mailman

and one who’ll walk right through it.

Okay, now so the workers were saying

They were up in Avon and put flags across the road

And people lift the flags and walk right across.

Parents and kids don’t pay attention.

Shawn the good mailman came

And he did well, stepped carefully.

Now we wait 24 hours and all will be well.

Asphalt Days are behind us.

Thursday, August 03, 2023

City truck

A giant white with pipes hanging on.

Has the city label

And workers in brightly

Shining safety vests

Iridescent green or orange.

Blocked the street then took off.

Quick and official

Keep out of the way.

Heads up, hats on

Their working today

Clearing the roads,

Do what they say.

Wednesday, August 02, 2023

Crowded

More notices than I’ve time to read.

Could be a brighter day today.

Starting slower under high grey.

Smoke from Canada is what they say.

Two rabbits we only see from afar.

Our distant pets by chance

Because they never get too near.

how pets are when they’re wild animals.

They keep away because they’re prey

And to run aloof is their way.

We’re content they never roam,

They’re happy this yard is home.

We look for them every day.

And keeping away is good for all.

I know they know we watch them

and have learned to live with wildlife.

Tuesday, August 01, 2023

Fine day of the week

Beyond the name is the function.

How well it’s constructed.

Here we are beginning.

Coffee me easy while I figure.

Labeled well and set

 Stream diagonally on the way.

Off to an Ohio landmark

In good traveling weather.

Some is history

Others are geography.

They are mapped out and popular.

In the Buckeye State.

Monday, July 31, 2023

Coming through the wall

Halfway down the hall I ‘m dodging

Them plastered on the wall

It’s early, too early to begin this way.

What do you say?

Sunshine, how are you?

We’re going to vote.

Simple, yet must be done.

Who’s packing the ballots?

Where are all the good guys?

Seems it should be obvious.

Even my coffee went Luke warm.

Whose side are we on?

A good drift of sunshine,

The temperature is somewhere in the middle.

Great to have such calming days.

Helps us all around.

Sunday, July 30, 2023

All the rest have thirty-one

Tying it off.

Hi-Jack. hi-Jack sent me his book.

Like mine, history ran right over it.

Ernie did two takes on:

This minute in history is brought to to by Shell.

And he was so proud to get 6 hundred thousand dollars

Then history ran right over it.

We never saw it coming. Any of us.

Hey, they got rid of slavery.

Got better dentists.

So now it’s sunshine

And days in a month.

Saturday, July 29, 2023

Raw grilled booms

Heavy thunder for two hours

While I slept and missed it.

Young bunny sat out this morning,

Must have wondered why it thundered.

What was going on?

Explosions in the sky.

Have to learn to read to understand?

Bunnies eat, sleep, run … and breed.

A lot of noise in a thunder rumble.

There is comfort when you’re wrapped in bed.

When you’re a year old wild rabbit

Living outside it may be tougher the first time.

Friday, July 28, 2023

Solid dream nearly

Kept me rolling all night okay

Without a pause in the chatter. It keeps rolling.

Poco summer flurries. Bushes turning.

maybe partially wind drivin’ I’d say.

Good glory to all.

I’ll greet you.

Hurrah. nice shoes.

Get along now. Keep moving.

Up with the morning sun.

Straight into work that’s begun.

After a morning coffee of course

and toast while I’m at it.

Whip up to speed.

It’s what we need.

A lot of turmoil.

And mouths to feed.

Thursday, July 27, 2023

New little & Old little

Paling up.

We’re seeing them together.

While in the warm they’re talking superlatives.

We’re Comfortable to indoor doings.

A bashful movement of The leaves on the bushes.

all else is silent.

High fine thin in the blue above.

Why not Pie and ice cream me.

My rules have been stretched.

Oregano for all who choose.

Mic jagger has turned eighty.

Easy come easy go.

Wednesday, July 26, 2023

Record heat expected

Heated to the gills

Took Providence the light cruiser to Hawaii from San Diego.

Had a picnic with the crew on the fantail

The ship photographer worked with me

Shit my friend and me looking by the crew

 fifty hands on deck.

I should pull out that photo,

Value it for the time it was.

Now many years, fifty, later.

The time at sea with the navy.

Poems written on sunny days.

The smell of the sea.

.

Stretched out blue.

Comes home to me.

It sure do

Yes, it do.

Tuesday, July 25, 2023

Oftentime

Duck worthy. Started this morning with several

Ducks in the long away backyard.

This is wrong; blue jays back and forth

Around the feeder. Ml’s idea / action.

Chipmunks and squirrels plus Little in the center.

A backyard packed in action.

i’ll have brown sugar on toast.

it’s M’s fresh loaf - delicious.

Winding through the final week of July.

The hottest days of the year.

Means 90s and humid around here.

This house is well constructed, always comfortable.

High thin overhead.

Mid-morning  and still, no one out.

Breeze in the bushes,

Leaves turn their faces.

Monday, July 24, 2023

Summer crowd

Saturday night at the islands.

Twenty thousand revelers seemed plenty.

I read that during the war of 1812

The canons at Put-in Bay could be heard in Huron.

Not especially a long distance

For booms and flashing

across a quiet flat lake during a still evening.

Oliver Hazard Perry lives in his proclamation:

We have met the enemy and they are ours.

I heard of this battle when I was in grade school.

Now two hundred years have passed.

The echoes of that war have reverberated.

Sunday, July 23, 2023

Soup homedone

Naturally this is homemade soup today.

We’ll,  well.  We’ll explain it all.

It’s still summer.

Haven’t hit the fall.

home done soup is close

to the most

stop for a toast

Watch for bones.

Saturday, July 22, 2023

As yet Unknown significance

Wait for instruction before beggining.

Pack similar berries together..

Sort by color and shape.

Currently longing for space to box.

Stirring words to capture flowing thought-ponies.

Whirling for a rhyme .

Bailing out in time.

Settling down by nine.

Get your tickets ready.

Take a seat on the bus

Seems to start and stop real steady.

We’re packing in the rest of us.

Friday, July 21, 2023

Hat the forecast.

 The weatherman on tv,

so many and weatherwomen included

said the dew point is 72.

I had to write that down.

one in particular i saw seemed worried about it.

I’m 78 and know nothing about dew points.

Hat the forecast.

Do it quietly as Little and NewLittle are calmly faced off between beds 2 and 3.

Scattered patches of blue behind puffy clouds this morning.

Joyous.  Hat the forecast.

No traffic at all.

i’ll have a second cup of coffee.

Thursday, July 20, 2023

Sailing on

Soft beginnings in morning light.

The day gently calls.

Slowly turning puffy clouds

Fill the skyway halls.

Two large rabbits ran across the front lawn.

Quick as they appeared they were gone.

Now the lawn is an empty canvas again.

We’ll see which speeding bunny can win.

On my old piano I’ll work out a tune,

To honor still nights and the moon.

By the starlight and partial breeze

There’ll be a melody to please.

Wednesday, July 19, 2023

Walkers not around

Blue is in the sky, not completely.

Enough for the first time in a while.

Nothing to be seen flying, walking.

Or Driving by this morning.

Colors are bright.

Good light starting this day.

Remembering I recall the people;

vehicles vanished with no trace.

 Now in a new millennium

The ever changing has come to this.

Words lean ahead and are mysterious

Even as they’re spoken.

Tuesday, July 18, 2023

Budget bails

Fields are filled with rolls of grain.

Driving by you have to notice.

Field’s don’t usually look this way.

I should take a picture to show you.

Like toilet paper rolls five feet wide, six feet tall.

If you’ve seen these tools before it’s nothing new.

Bigger or more rolls than ever.

It has been a while since rolls were there.

So now you really notice them.

Food for everyone no doubt about it.

The population is so very large.

Instead of more rows of houses.

Food in fields makes sense. A welcome sight.

Monday, July 17, 2023

Dressed well enough it seems.

The mower pulls itself and the mowee.

Up and down the line, cuts so fine.

The air quality has been cut to ribbons.

Terrible sky what have you done.

It sprinkled last night.

Streets got wetter.

Holy mackerel

Will things get better?

Plow, plow turn it over

Give the bunnies fresh, new clover.

Make it better; clean the air

All over, yes, all over.

Sunday, July 16, 2023

How It happened to be

Noticing the house across the street

I could tell you about it.

There are only bushes and trees visible.

So thick with foliage no house can be seen.

In the fall Richard’s house is prominent.

I worry when there is no bush between us.

What change when the woods is thick.

Give us the green between.

Now with that said it’s a return to morning.

A return to calm.

Sunday morning all around.

Deer or bunnies with hardly a sound.

Saturday, July 15, 2023

Working out two, three,

Promise of warm this afternoon.

Are you in the mood to wait?

We saw it pass.

Was on the slate.

Turn the levers

Wake them up.

It’s the full count,

bottoms up.

Concentrate

Pile words in a stack

See what walking we can run into.

Don’t scatter. Keep on track.

Familiar places we’ve all been to.

Dressed for success we all wear

What we have, how much we care.

Looking sharp is a treat.

Slow down, this one is our street.

We’ll mark it well

Using our power

The wishing well

Denotes the hour.

Thursday, July 13, 2023

Drying out

The plants keep taking water.

Rain doesn’t fall from the sky everyday.

Flowers and vegetables slurp all they can.

We keep listening to the weather man and women.

No blue above at all today.

Sky is white til outasight.

Shaking leaves begin to blow.

If this were winter I’d think snow.

A little weather break.

We can stand some idle time.

Get out the mower and the rake.

Cleanup’s on your. Time and mine.

Wednesday, July 12, 2023

They say rain

We always have the unknown they say how weather is

And now a little bit of thunder.

By the time I say it’s long gone.

Another rumble.

Big Little and new Little are out.

No idea where they’ll hide from the rain.

Rumble again

Beautiful morning

A lot of color..

Now a lot of rain and sounds.

Birds and downpours.

Then just drips in stillness.

Tuesday, July 11, 2023

Trees away

They came, they sold. We bought

Trees away.  Three be gone,

And some little ones that

May have been worth it but are now out of here.

I thought, that’s the end of the matter.

We’ll live wi what we have.

Regretting don’t fit well.

Sure comes close to applicable.

Now is another day.

We’re already into other things.

Time to look at how it is,

We’ll start again, that’s what I say.

Sunday, July 09, 2023

Enter ring dash

mighty Little, then new little

Appear first in front after the other

Then after a pause dash together or practically.

Zipping off they were here then depart

It’s not easy to write about speeders.

Those who can’t stay long enough to act friendly.

I know they’re goodness sitting, running.

We‘ll wait to see how they go.

Going later, toward nine now.

Perhaps warm today. We’re hoping.

A small boat. Light wind.

We can sail well.

Saturday, July 08, 2023

Puppet on a string

Red flowers are attractive.

They could dance and boom.

No one is out walking this morning.

Quiet as can be out there.

This is a day to straighten the area.

I’ll take it easy getting the space in order.

Nothing special weather wise.

We’re in a good position.

Friday, July 07, 2023

Working it out baby

Thinking what she has to do today.

Little is out there this morning.

A large, sitting ball of bunnie.

Now now heading to the back yard.

Gets up early.

It’s a week before the middle of July.

Prime summer.

What we wish and wait for the rest of the year.

This is a perfect warm day.

Splashing water birds are set for

Green grass is growing

A luminous summer day.

Thursday, July 06, 2023

large deer

Lost the entry for today 6 July 2023.

Seemed another day progressed on schedule.

A large deer appeared in the back yard,

Standing on the edge of the woods.

Not moving. Waiting patiently. With

Only the slightest turn of her head.

Not moving, practically invisible.

I carefully wrote about this wonderful anima

Then lost my entry when I searched to

Make sure it was there.

It rarely happens that I loose one. I think.

The deer was magnificent.

What I wrote seemed complimentary and

Then it was a blank page.  I did it again.

Wednesday, July 05, 2023

Safety first

.00 a number, signifying rain predicted for tomorrow.

The figure is a scant larger than today’s

The ciphers for both days are minimal.

Water minimal is what we live with.

When I start looking for water from the sky

On the days before it begins-

I’m ready to end the dryness.

Help these flowers and vegetables grow

Akron is around the corner;

So when do we hear, then see the Goodyear Blimp.

Low and floating overhead.

Now there is an event-and-a-half.

Tuesday, July 04, 2023

a Foggy day unexpectedly

You’d think it’d be over,
Its Tuesday of  a week celebrating.
Today is finally the holy.
All are worn and going strong.

It must be that way
But nearly nine
And no one has moved.
They were out early, so must be resting.

I’ll take my time to figure what’s up.
Fog and silence start the day.
A large rabbit just walked by.
Eating and slow hopping. My my.

I slept and dreamed last night;
It was quite the magical crowd.
Now its fine, just struck nine.
No more fireworks banging off so very loud.

Monday, July 03, 2023

Long holidays

Line the celebration across the weekend.

The longest stretch of holiday in my lifetime.

Seems whipped open

Hardiness full of up and comings.

The house across the street is the Methodist pastor’s home.

Monique is she, we just met.

She shouted hi and walked over.

A friendly new neighbor, we’ll take one.

So there we have our holidays weekend underway.

Poco a poco, little by little

We discover where we are.

Our times are bright

Sunday, July 02, 2023

France disturbances

Tough times spread

Listening to what’s said

Rough all over.

 Cover your head.

i am almost done

Here we be. Wrapping up.

Great spirit that is greater than any of us.

Way it ought to be.

Take it easy. The holiday is upon us.

This magical stuff is hard to take

Like card tricks by a magician.

If I say magic again

something may disappear

Cool and quiet

Not overly still or off the scale temperature wise.

Just fine and dark.

Damp out.

hardly notice any difference on the inside.

Will be a good Sunday for most anything.

Reasonable activities always fit well.

Have room around the woods for robins,

Cardinals, chipmunks. Rabbits, squirrels and the rest.

Deer walk by now and then,

Or every night.

Red on our tree top

Is it early turbot or on time? I can’t say.

The blistering scarlet top is for sure present.

All day cloudy because fires continue.

It’s suggested we stay indoors.

Times have caught a new wave.

Leaders trying hard to save.

In cities on major boulevards thousands rave

Working hard to avoid the grave.

Some rain, green grows thick.

Bunnies hide. We do too

Running quick.

Mornings are cool.

Should be

Listen to me, I’m telling you what the weather will be.

I read it, believe it, and pass it on.

I’m trained.

What happened to me looking out the window.

Today might be the warmest of the year, so far.

I’m dressed for warm so i believe it.

Cloudy, so looks like the Canadian smoke continues.

Right now I’ll coffee-up.

Wednesday, June 28, 2023

Right on we say

Dream swirled with me in it.

Now I’ve coffeed once and

Am looking over my shoulder for more.

Baby squirrel and new little bunnie are in the back yard.

Weather is dry this middle of the week.

Warming to mid seventies.

Nothing so terribly hot or humid.

Feels like it’ll be  regular, good summer day

I’ll jot a little, like this I’m doing.

We’ll see what will be as the calendar spins.

On and off again, working it out.

Smile and think good, what it’s about.

Showers all day

Other parts had the rain

We were border dry,

Finally one day it came our way.

Now I’m sitting, waiting again, no lie.

What we usually get is a forecast of rain.

Then nothing happens.

Skies always cloudy

So rain seems around the corner.

Sunday, June 25, 2023

June will soon be rolling over

Will be very warm for these parts.

Not like Texas with temps absurd .

Our area is warm enough for us.

We need a forest to hide in heavy green.

We do have a small woods on one side.

i can check the weather there.

It will make our acre yard worth while.

Instead of taking for granted I’ll examine.

Now the fine line of wonder opens.

Hello good June Sunday, come on in,

Blue sky, clouds flow puffy again,

A measure for how and where we’ve been.

Immigrants on the med

In search of home;
In loving friendships.
Family, garden,
Sun and water.

Guidance, justice
Peace and order.
Nourishing seasons.
A good kitchen with stove to cook on.

No pushing,
Order, kindness.
Birds and animals
 plans for the future

Books to learn and enjoy.
Games for skill and confidence.
A moon at night.
Legends and hope for tomorrow

Watch back

the little bunny sat a while

 not moving just looking.

i  had toast, grape jelly and a coffee

and kept an eye out; nothing happened.

at this moment all looks good.

perhaps there was a splash of rain last night.

plants are healthy.

cloudy but I think warm enough.

this is the kind of today we need .

how a summer day should be.

feeling okay how it all comes about.

practically a heart warming comedy.

Off early

Avoiding the crowd is the scheme

Trader Joe’s is on our beam.

Best plans for our team. up early, dressed to go.

Started counting bunnies, our movement became slow.

Five or so, front and back.

Moving to new places

Figuring who is who.

Hard to tell bunnies apart.

Happy to have them hopping here

Makes home seem calm and friendly.

A plethora of Baby  chipmunks and fewer dogs.

It’s user friendly.

To see classmates

Hello friends, how have you been?

I’m pleased to have you as my former classmates.

Everyone recalls another fracture.

Good to have the memories.

For all time we’ll be

Set into the class of 63.

Count us up, how many are we?

And dance to the music.

Up before seven

That means it was six something

when I leaned forward in the bed

Because Meri was standing there and said

Lean forward and you can see the little one

Right there. And I did and did.

Then looking out the front with coffee and toast

I see another bunny by Rod’s bush

and it scampered around it.

Toast and cinnamon with coffee

Good Tuesday to the world.

a warm day with a few sprinkles.

good smelling without wrinkles

Monday, June 19, 2023

She sprinkled cinnamon on toast

My toast.

avocado was on it.

She explicitly said cinnamon used with something

i forget, but she means it.

This is a breakfast standard that will apply.

Had my coffee and toast; finished that.

Going to be warm again.

How summer is best.

Reading Larry McMurtry’s Lonesome Dove.

It has been at least ten years since I read it.

The book is a pleasure a second time.

It’s filled with space.

Streak of sun

 Bright yellow it shines

Good morning to you

See bushes thick

Stiff in no breeze

Lacking a glint  of greeting

a tiny squirrel hopped by

through a bush quietly

near the spot of sun

Splashes of light

showing so brightly

getting ready now

for a sunny warm afternoon coming today.

Kites galore

Canoe, a small island off Denmark’s West coast.

Home to an international kite festival

and twenty thousand kites.

Chinese kites received a warm welcome.

People had color in the sky.

Entertainment and smiles abounded this weekend.

Sounds good to put on your calendar.

Kites galore, next year eh,

Rains end

Full blown growing, you see green all the way down.

With clovers white dots spread through the lawn.

Don’t have to worry no light can shine in,

The bushes are too tall where the light’s been.

Yah yah a quarter.

 dream it’s turned loose.

On downtown manana.

Flying free as a goose..

Currently thought of a time

In a film  i saw Cagney and Hope

knock ‘em down tap dancing.

i casually talked with Hope for fifteen or twenty minutes

and didn’t think to mention how hard they had worked..

that was a slip up.

I wanted to hear his comments.

Beauty & joy

Bed time I put on ear phones for my transistor radio.

The Guardians, formerly the Indians, were playing in San Diego.

A clean  major league baseball field under lights - that’s beauty.

The first inning San Diego jumped in 4- 0.

No joy to start out.

I wasn’t going to listen to the whole game anyway.

Another day another game, Tom Hamilton, Cleveland’s play by play announcer, is a pleasure to hear.

The Guardians win will bring joy.

Summertime weather. Nothing like it.

Slow getting here this year.

This time of year is a perfect fit.

I know good times are near.

How about a marching band?

In line on the field playing their favorite tune.

Knowing their looking good

And having a powerful musical day.

Tuesday, June 13, 2023

Sure’d beef fun

Onion be gone, it’s breakfast time.

Dreamed in circles i did all night.

Peaceful on top of that.

Cloudy, warm and rabbits.

Getting to run same habits

On and over again.

Monotonous to an extent; without complaining.

Rigamarol is procedurally common place.  Not out of place.

Those bunnies running circles have got me doing it.

I’ll pause to sharpen my blades to keep up with’em.

These words i sing.

God bless us everyone.

Years back

This June like years back

Is the time things grow.

This last a full night of storm struck.

I left the window open to a full rain fall.

Fields, animals and plants took it in.

A big drink for all my mother used to say.

Talk of drought has been slowed.

Plants will grow, and fields to be mowed.

i lost the final paragraph while i know i saved it. it has not happened for a while.

Mystery whistling

Jose hit three homers in the game.

Cheering for the fellow is deserved.

The stadium, for Guardians. Hurrah.

Rain today will break a long spell without.

We’ve NLB plus Little

that we look for daily.

They hang close by.

A sympathetic lawn and woods is why.

The neighborhood dogs stay away.

Our neighbors there deserve credit.

Thanks much folks for good work,

There, dog lovers, i said it.

the mystery of the whistles us so blatant

We can put thoughts about it

together with much difficulty.

Credit comes latent.

Saturday, June 10, 2023

New little bunny is fast

Outside my window I saw new little bunny.

nlb, it moved off to the side.

I couldn’t see where it went.

It moves so fast it’s mother looks pokey.

We saw big Little a few times.

She has nothing to do with nlb.

Nlb is out there with no friend.

We saw her check out a chipmunk and a cardinal.

Rabbits are solo creatures, but we want her to have a friend.

She’s learning life as we observe.

I hope she learns we’re standing by.

Ready to serve.

Friday, June 09, 2023

Children are all we have

Looking ahead it’s children that are all we have.

Water, washing, meals,

Family, holidays,  education.

These are a few of the important needs.

Doctors, medicine, traditions.

Books, examples to follow.

Goals, comfort.

A world of happiness.

Warm hearts, rhythm.

Calmness, music, dance.

Honesty, variety.

A dark sky with nighttime stars.

Newborn bunnie

Looked and waited, today’s the day.

From your thumb to little finger,

That’s how long the small, white, hopper is.

One new package out with an adult.

Good form and poise.

Seems ready to rabitize, that’s what they do.

When they leave the nest

They’re ready to go solo.

Already it shows characteristics of mother Little‘s awareness.

Stay cautious Bunny.

Enjoy the good eating.

We don’t use lawn poisons.

Waiting for the train

Could have been the boat

The word caught up in my throat.

Dipping waves of honey.

Haven’t got the money to by a ticket back.

Honey I’m on the attack. I told you.

I ‘d spin around with you.

Buy another shoe to match what you wear.

I know that you don’t care, but I do.

It’s something neat I feel.

Yapping down the street is real

When honey, I move along with you,

You know I do. I surely do.

Come on, don’t creep me out

Or wear me out.

It’s all about

Going round with you.

Tuesday, June 06, 2023

Crovus

Looking for my new pet

The crow will know me.

We’ll see what we can do for each other.

This will hold our attentions.

We’ll learn by cautious looking.

Can’t expect too much,

Only enough to earn our attentions.

Slowly we’ll begin,

First we’ll see if we ca find one another.

That is a giant step at the start.

Willing and able,

A lot on the table.

Monday, June 05, 2023

Even time

Dark left this morning, finally.

It lifted and there is light beneath.

Cloudy-grey, not bright and blue.

But quite light, better than dark night.

Quiet and still

Morning’s a thrill

Flat with no hills,

Dawn brings a chill.

Precious and pure,

Summer is sure

To be the cure

For what ails us.

Saturday, June 03, 2023

New bells

Calling out June the new moon

arrives soon they say.

A new tune is going to play.

A good day right away.

I prey thee play.

Come what May.

We did that one already,

Hold on steady.

We’ve got Summer,

A first rate hummer.

We’ll see it through

with hugs to you.

Tasty Coffee

Get in line, will you?

Four point six billion cups of coffee are drunk worldwide everyday,

How large are those cups?

how quickly are they put down?

How many cigarettes are smoked at the same time?

A video about Costa Rica had the coffee info.

It also had sloths climbing trees.

My friend Bill lives in Cost Rica.

He must be guilty of drinking coffee or climbing trees.

The weather and the coffee are good where he is.

All I can do is make a note

On June second the day i wrote.

Today will be in the upper eighties.

For my friends in Centidrade, that warm.

Note complete ,   Now I’ll have another coffee.

Hi to Bill and to the rest of you.

Thursday, June 01, 2023

time for fewer customers

i have to guess the best time to go.

The stain on the drive was left by the worker’s truck.

We keep this place looking good.

Now she says the spot is a water stain.

I’m working quietly here, causing no damage.

When walking in the rain I’m dressed for it.

Later I’ll say “why didn’t I tell this or that.”

At least we usually have good weather.

Wednesday, May 31, 2023

Memorial day

 A tough day, remembering wars.

Celebrating those who perished.

Come on, humans, get along.

How could we have come up with wars?

If you need contests

Why not battle over cooking the best food

and playing the best music.

Take naps when you’re tired and look at the stars at night.

And sports and card games and bowling.

And walking and swimming contests.

Chess and baseball. Reading books.

Story telling and poetry. Easy does it.

Sunday, May 28, 2023

Last night thoughts rose bright

It occurred what to note.

While dreaming under starlight.

The melody of an old tune I heard on the radio had a name.

I should have written it out.

So simple I though I would have remembered.

Another day, another hour.

It went up in a swirl of dream.

Was it one dream or many? I don’t remember.

Nevertheless I woke up empty minded.

The simple song had slipped by me.

You know I’ve done this before.

I think, but don’t remember.

tall robin

Holiday weekend. Summer day

First, neighbor gee-gee walks by walking better.

Then a lawn care truck; always popular somewhere nearby.

No one else walking, only he-gee and a tall robin.

It’s still; more so since they tore down the mill.

I miss the train at the other place.

Where you’d hear the lonesome whistle blow.

Here at least robin has followed us over.

Now we make do without the lake.

It’s all give and rake.

I meant hive and take but with all these trees

There has to be a rake in it.

Friday, May 26, 2023

Wind off the week

 Kind principles lead well.

Keeping tuned and basic.

Skys blue are heavenly.

You lead, I’ll follow.

on the path through the woods

we will find our way.

Unleashing all we should

making this our day.

Ted and ali’s

An hour drive distant.

Was only thirty minutes from Norwhere.

 In Shelby we had breakfast.

Today the place was packed and noisy.

A whole lot of talking going on.

I asked Ali if rhe ceiling had been changed.

She said it was the same for eighty years.

I didn’t remember the place that noisy.

 but didn’t tell her that.

M. Thought the portions were small

And the quality down.

I liked it all

Including shredded, fried potatoes.

together

together this morning preparing to leave.

Toby said bye on his way to the plant.

this has been a good chance to be here

a few days to get reacquainted .

it rained last night while I dreamed,

some time before this morning.

now the ground is wet yet quickly drying.

the sky is totally cloudy.

we spent good hours in California.

talked, ate, and watched baseball on TV.

got reacquainted with some Cleveland players.

weather here is so fine.

drove to the seaside.

refreshing to see the sea again.

Closing up

 We’ve  had a swell time.

A fine margin of enjoyment.

If we asked around there’s be a large

consensus of practical agreement.

Good time went around.

we shared it.

Out to the desert

Four and a half hours out from Temecula.

72 miles from the Mexican border.

Sunny and warm. Far off we could

see  Snow on the mountains.

We got to Toby’s plant and he showed us around.

The operation is near completion.

Quite a well-made beautiful place.

He created an impressive plant.

Saturday, May 20, 2023

Turned warm

All the California wonderful on a Saturday

That you need, see how it is.

Okay weekend for all.

Spin out a tail got goodness.

Had Mexican food last eve.

Four of six ordered number seven:

Chilirelleno and cheese enchilada

And a good time was had by all.

I’d take another whack to do better.

Good sun, good people,

Good days in C A.

Thanks to all.

Little better

 How to sleep with practice.

When it is time wake and shower.

Night is wrapped, so are we and you where you are.

Gather for what’s to do.

Cleaned and packed, not for Rome.

This is California for which we’re bound.

Not driving the world,

Two flights in a day.  A quick way.

I’ll read across, and recall friends.

They are my life and reasons for the west.

Over thirty years we had beginnings and ends.

No doubt about it, some moments were best.

there will be well into seventies temperatures.

bushes are loaded, well hanging in damp.

no birds, no squirrels, a black cat has been chased away.

i’d run it now to hear it chug. Thug, clung.

i’ll write a few lines,

note some things we did.

look ahead toward our next adventure.

Weather is holding

A whisper tells all there is.

I heard her first thing talking to them.

I casually asked is anyone is out there.

I should have known by her talking to them in a voice of glee

Back again, two of them. They live here.

We’re not surprised we’re happy.

those monkey rabbits keep us busy.

I is like reading the 1919 book of Benjamin Franklin.

Keeps me busy. Also, must consider:

How to we protect those dears?

These critters to whom we grow attached.

Rain is mentioned without materializing.

Eyes to the sky.

At least we know why.

Thursday, May 11, 2023

Starting over

Powdery white blue sky.

Sun shines in the sound of quiet.

Will be the warmest day we’ve had.

Eighty degrees and I’m glad.

Little, our favorite rabbit, is back one day after misery.

Boyfriend bunny came by also.

The old ranch is riding a return to normal.

Ain’t she sweet, just a-walking down the street.

Have to balance out the days,

Keep them lined up until we’re through.

Must be many ways

To erase the blues

wore my jacket and barret

To fight the cool, although they say

It will turn to a summer day.

If it can make it I’ll hurray.

Chapter end

Must have been the black cat.

All the babies were killed.

There is no rabbit here this morning.

The long bunny story has ended.

Our friends, our familiarity is torn out.

Meridith removed the bodies that were spread around.

It was brutal.  What a sad ending for the mother bunny.

and for us. We join in the heartache.

How is our bunny grieving?

So unfair for the rabbits.

We will miss them all.

We do miss them all.

Tuesday, May 09, 2023

Black cat

What we didn’t want to see in our yard.

Don’t know the drama must have occurred.

Last thing we wanted to see a few days before we leave.

No bunnies visible this morning.

The adult black cat was sitting by our tree. Waiting.

The rabbit den is undisturbed.

Meri chased the enemy away.

Now we wait to see who returns.

7:40 a bunny is seen in the back yard.

We have another week for the birth of new bunnies.

We’ll be in California. How will all turn out?

all seems acceptable at this time.

Monday, May 08, 2023

Double bunnies

First morning activity is to see two bunnies

in the yard. one is large, the other Little.

Good Sunday in May. Here’s setting out day.

have a coffee and plan the haps.

A book to continue on Kindle.

How to pace the finale for the flight to California.

When  Sunday glows good day

We two are on our way to the Fellowship.

I am curious to see where heads are.

Now watching bunnies do their second greatest activity.

They can be in the middle of the yard and remain still.

Number one activity is to run quickly.

Two large

 Stopping for breakfast at sunrise.

Eating at bed one and two.

Friends together, on the road.

Fully grown bunnies.

They cannot see us; they’re occupied.

Munching and hopping.

We don’t see them everyday

So when we do we enjoy the sight of them.

A turkey buzzard made a low, slow pass overhead.

The rabbits ducked into hiding.

The morning is quiet and calm.

The rabbits want to keep it that way.

steady before it starts

Can see the ease the day begins as starlight surrenders.

My clothes together, clocks tic strong.

Put off a trip to Planktown.

We’ve California on our mind.

A week to visit my daughter and granddaughter.

And Toby of course. Ain’t got no horse.

I may glimpse the ocean when we’re flying in.

And pizza and burritos are I expect to reacquaint myself again.

We’ve more than a week but we’re getting ready.

We’re preparing, our thoughts are steady.

Been on our minds before it starts.

The West coast, ah. It’s in our hearts.

The big parade

Everyone heard about it there is no denying.

Two blocks long when laid out.

From here to there.

Fifty-some degrees; feels colder. Some wind.

Old people are half the regulars.

a crowd of all forms.

extremes, sizes,

ages, colors,

country’s.

Changing season

You get so much before other times develop.

Great golden yellow greets us this morning.

Saw two standout scarlet cardinals first thing.

The rest of the yard is overly still.

One small cute squirrel then a guy and his dog walked by.

Dark grey clouds behind brightly sunlit trees.

The yard, bush and tree green has certainly developed.

The tree buds have become leaves.

Mark it down: trees went from bald sticks

to the wonder of leafed out, colorful springtime.

Even slow branches with few leaves

have filled with water and turned a healthy dark brown.

Day an night

 Rabbits are in our yard.

We drove back from the store and right there

on the side of the drive was one of our rabbits.

They’ve become daring. Makes me cautious.

I mean I hope they’ll be cautious.

I don’t want them overly comfortable with the traffic.

I hope they pay attention and keep out of the way.

I shouldn’t have to worry about wild rabbits.

Working in Hollywood

   Thick traffic some days.

worked at a radio station on sunset boulevard

Out the window I often Saw Groucho take

a morning Walk.

Recording studios were nearby.

For me ten or fifteen minutes to home in north Hollywood.

Or down the street to Santa Monica pier.

Took my kids to La Brea Tar Pits.

and to BingTheater where we saw Ray Bolger the

Scare crow from The Wizard Of Oz dance and sing

To Singing In The Rain.

Sun shiney warm Hollywood.

Three on the run

Woke up to them going around.

Chasing, frolicking from one side to the other.

Sprinkles of rain are about to happen.

Moving quickly from side to side.

Can’t tell who’s the leader.

Large bunnies, swift moving.

Have they been running all night?

It’s eight o’clock, started to sprinkle. They’re gone.

Builds a nest

We watch as the bunny carefully builds her nest.

Read about how they work, what to expect.

Get into a routine and lose track of our bunny.

All for sure is finished, then it reappears.

Is it our mother bunny to be or not?

Meri keeps looking. I make notes and worry

as reports of bunnies movements come in.

In and out of the nest too quickly. What is happening?

This I said is her nest when it is for sure a nest.

An who is the male rabbit that sits and watches?

Bunnies don’t have much protection from predators

they can run and those big feet are built for kicking.

Black Cutout dog

 Keeps deer away.

We like to see deer around.

However, they eat our good plants.

Can’t blame ‘em for being hungry.

Squirrels are out. It seems warmer.

But squirrels come out when snow is on the ground.

For clarification on my report of anything squirrel:

I’m not or have I ever been a squirrel watcher.

If there were buses here,

And places to go on them

then I’d stamp my ticket

and have a look up and down the town.

Building a nest

 Below our widow

Been working all night.

Two bunnies prepare.

She builds, he overlooks.

After eight, she needs to rest now.

A mouthful of grass or pine needles at a time.

she's gone now. will return this evening.

newborn bunnies could be covered up in there.

Looks like a good day

Sure we don’t have it perfect.

It’s completely cloudy. Grey looking.

No traffic, walkers or animals.

Not a breeze.

Give it a few hours. See what happens.

I’m coffeed out. Nothing scheduled now.

I’ll review what I’ve written to see how it is.

Decide where to go from here.

Sat eve, knock ‘em down

 The jazz orchestra hits it.

haven’t heard them for two months and we’re ready.

Charts like the top bands of the 1930’s to today.

Oberlin college teaches them kids to be hot cats.

quiet, waiting for 7:30 p.m.

Finney Chapel twelve hundred wooden pews,

below and balcony,  a long way up to the wooden ceiling.

a fully charged spiritual concert hall that swings.

 the toughest songs to interpret

are the ones with words

without music.

Nod your head,

Snap your fingers.

Summer coming on

 Smooth riding to Trader Joe.

Thirty minutes.

Traffic light, feeling right

Tina’s brother with the gold record …

Never met him, never saw him.

Why don’t more people stop their car on the freeway to get a sandwich out of the backseat?  Meri asked.

I like the history of what happened when we were young or before. A generation prior.

fill your day

with working,

writing, reading,

doing something for somebody.

Before eight a.m.

Per usual, not a soul out.

Reminds me of the TV weather folk,

Always they say “0ut and about”.

I have to complain about it.

Perhaps I should build another pond,

Something of which I’m very fond.

Yeah they’re fun but a lot of work.

I’m not in condition to move  many rocks.

There, we’re staying in again.

The water falls will live in my memory.

Fresh cool trickling wet

With swimming fish, you bet.

frog winter

scooping leaves from the pond

where the sugar maple deposits them

there is a plunk in the water

it's forty degrees this afternoon

who did i disturb but a frog

how can they live like that

sleeping in a plastic flower pot

submerged in the bottom of the pond

making a home for the winter

be solid as the ice through the snow

then come back chirping in the spring

well, rent is free, that i know
